Being sick is no fun. In these colder months, you may be wondering how to boost your immune system to stay healthy and fight off those infectious germs. But, keeping them at bay is no easy task. Especially with the barrage of warnings of contagious bacteria and viruses at every turn. You know. All those germs that lurk on every door knob. Every hand we shake. And, even in the air we breathe. Germs, more germs, and even more germs! Oh my! Are you scared yet? Don’t fret! These constant warnings are ludicrous on so many levels. And, here’s why.

First, a story.

The year was 1964. I was 7 years old and attending a graduation event with my father in Rome, Georgia. In the front row was a middle aged woman in a wheelchair. I had never seen anyone that was not elderly in a wheelchair before. And, at my young age, it consumed my pondering little mind. I finally asked my father the reason for her situation, and he replied that she had cancer and did not have long to live.

This got me asking many questions about her situation. But, I focused on this one. “Why did she get this disease?” Of course, we have no better answers in 2020 than in 1964 regarding this question. But, the my father’s answer to me that night was, “It just happens to certain people.”

The turning point.

The dots connected. And, I assumed that if she could get sick then my parents and I must be at risk for the same health troubles. That thought frightened me. The next few weeks I thought about the lady in the wheelchair and the reason for her sickness. And, I came to a realization that has followed me to this day. Her disease could not be a random event. It had to be preceded by a weakened body to originate and house the cancer. In other words, her immune system wasn’t functioning at an optimal level. And, there must be safe ways to strengthen and nourish ourselves to prevent disease. This epiphany set the stage for my lifelong career in holistic nutritional health.

This same philosophy applies to almost any disease you can name. But, especially those focused on infections that spread from person to person. Studies show that individuals with a weakened physical state are far more susceptible to infectious sickness than healthy people. And, the less healthy will suffer far more with secondary infections and death. This is a fact no one can deny. Yet, why is it few recognize that we have vast options to not fall into a “weakened state” with our health?

What you can do.

There are some simple steps you can take to optimize your immune system with nutritional supplementation. And, they will help to prepare you for whatever contagious germs you may encounter. Trust your body instead of falling victim to a fear-based mental state. If you were going to run a marathon you would prepare beforehand. You would start with the goal of building your endurance and strength. And, the same exact philosophy applies to nutritional supplementation.

Immune System Booster #1 : Optimize your Vitamin D.

Do not follow the herd advice of taking 1,000 IU of Vitamin D. The only way to boost the immune system is to raise your Vitamin D to 50/ng/ml on a blood test. To achieve these results, I find 5,000 IU to 10,000 IU is required. But, blood testing is the only accurate method for finding proper dosage of Vitamin D.

Immune System Booster #2: Start taking the Core 4 nutrition supplements for optimal health.

In the past 10 years, I have distilled a combination of ingredients that are the rocket fuel for our bodies. Most health food stores offer thousands of items. And, yet, the truth is we only need a few of these. But, the Core 4 is required for your optimal health. The following items comprise The Core 4:
  1. Quality multivitamins taken twice daily. These must not contain synthetic folic acid and have no artificial colors or binders. I prefer capsules for most individuals.
  2. Proper quality and dose of an organic green drink. It offsets acidity. It detoxifies the liver to rid the body of harmful toxins. And, it saturates the body with the protective phyto-nutrients from 50 differing plants.
  3. Omega-3 from fish. And, not just any omega. But, those tested for heavy metals and contain the proper potency.
  4. Probiotics. The gut lining is the second immune system. Taking probiotics is key to attain protection against infections.

Immune System Booster #3: Take an aggressive dosage of medicinal mushrooms.

Medicinal mushrooms should contain the following mushrooms. Royal Blazei, Cordyceps, Reishi, Maitake, Chaga, and Mesima. There are many other beneficial mushrooms available, as well. Mushrooms have the ability to weather any infection or toxic load unlike any other living organism on this earth. And, taking the proper quality saturates us with their protective armour. Immune System Booster #4: Reduce your sugar intake.

Did you know that eating sugar decreases your immune system for 4 hours? This makes you susceptible to harboring infectious bugs. So, be very choosy when you eat junk food.

Immune System Booster #5: Optimize your sleep.

Insomnia is an epidemic. So, learn the techniques on how to return to sound sleep by listening to my podcast on sleep

Immune System Booster #6: Stock your natural medicine chest.

Keep healing substances on-hand to shorten the duration and severity of your symptoms. Give your immune system the boost it needs by stocking up on the following items:
  1. Olive Leaf 18%. Taking olive leaf has saved me from falling ill many times.
  2. Manuka honey. Bees and Trees is the only brand I endorse.
  3. ACF. This liquid is full of potent vitamins, herbs, and minerals to fight off illness.
  4. Vitamin C. Humans lose their ability to manufacture their own Vitamin C when ill. Take 500mg to 1000mg every few hours to shorten the duration of sickness. And, since it is water soluble, it must be kept in the bloodstream by taking it often. I prefer a form of Vitamin C called Lypo C because it is fat soluble.
  5. Cordyceps mushrooms if the lungs are struggling. Remember, dosage information on the bottle is for maintenance and not for therapeutic reasons

Most Importantly…

Remember that you have the power to become the alchemist of your own internal pharmacy. But, only if you learn the wisdom of nature.

Trust your body to heal itself. And, remember that it can only optimize your health if you nourish it with these superfoods and nutrition.
