This analogy applies exactly to choosing “folate” in place of folic acid in your supplements. The biochemical explanation for how folate is processed in human metabolism is quite complex and I will not bore you with the details, however my take home message is this: If you desire to optimize your potential to decrease your risk of contracting at least 2 dozen chronic diseases, look for the word folate or methylfolate in all your supplements from now on.
