In thirty seven years at Nutrition World I can predict like clockwork the number one question at the beginning of the year for my staff is, “What can I take to lose weight”?
Long ago the solutions for quick weight loss was limited to taking stimulants which boosted metabolism and reduced appetite. Years ago I realized the downside of this approach as to the negative health consequences and I eliminated all unhealthy products at Nutrition World in this category.
I have learned that the first issue in losing weight is not how to eat less, it is how to balance the unhealthy chemistry that is forcing food to be stored as fat. The following 3 steps I list below will not only produce weight loss but includes eliminating your cravings, lowering of inflammation, improving digestion, and a litany of other benefits that are nothing short of a miracle for some.
STEP NUMBER 1:
Eliminate ALL Sugar
Includes high fructose corn syrup, cane sugar, honey, maple syrup, juices, sugar fruits, agave, potatoes, and any foods containing these ingredients.
STEP NUMBER 2:
Eliminate ALL Grains
Including wheat, corn, rice, oats, quinoa, etc. Don’t eat any grain food just because it is labeled as “gluten free”
STEP NUMBER 3:
You Must Eat Fat to Lose Fat
This includes grass-fed butter, coconut oil, authentic olive oil, avocados, lard, animal fats, organic heavy cream and MCT.
Eat protein-rich foods (fish, chicken, chemical free beef, turkey, eggs, and cheese plus organic raw nuts and seeds. Eat a variety of colorful vegetables every single day and if not possible then drink a green drink.
Vegans are required to use plant protein shakes with each meal since no animal products are consumed.
ADDITIONAL TIPS.
Coconut Oil
Take 2 tablespoons daily. Use it as a spread like butter, put it in a protein shake or use it to cook foods.
Benefits: It contains short and medium chain fatty acids that help in taking OFF excessive weight and balancing thyroid health.
Plant or Whey Protein:
One scoop with your favorite milk once or twice daily.
Benefits: helps control hunger cravings. Provides protein and amino acids, which serve as building blocks for increased muscle growth. Also increases release of anabolic hormones that can stimulate muscle growth.
Vegetables
Eat 5 vegetables per day. Choose Fresh veggies that are in season.
Breakfast
Directions: Start the day with protein and fat. Incorporate grass fed butter and or coconut oil, eggs and or a protein shake.
Lunch
Directions: Salad with protein. Include lots of leafy veggies, cucumbers, celery, beets, cheese, nuts, broccoli, cauliflower, and olives.
Supper
Directions: A good source of protein and a large variety of veggies.
Snacks
Directions: Fruits, nuts, and yogurt. Cottage cheese (full fat) with black pepper or a protein shake with peanut butter or almond butter. Sami’s cinnamon chips are a special treat.
