CBD oil and an Intro to Hemp Products

I have authored no less than 1000 health articles over my life; however, the information that follows may be the most important I have ever written.

Nutrition World was pleased to have Jon Kennedy, one of Chattanooga’s foremost experts on hemp, speaking to a packed house on a Saturday morning! Jon revealed a whole new area of astounding research and insights on the powerful healing effects of hemp and cannabinoids.

Background on my Journey With CBD Oil

Since 1979, I have professionally been involved with nutrition and health. The one tenet of healing that I have come to respect most is this: Disease is primarily caused by the weakening of our system, or by the excess toxins that we have accumulated in the body.  The key to healing almost all health issues is adding nutritional building blocks that allow new healthy cells to be formed free of disease.

Secondly, by lowering the toxic compounds within us, the body has the vitality to repair itself.  I admit, this is not the mainstream belief system. Mainstream focuses on the use of synthetic compounds and ignores your body’s ancient wisdom for its own self-healing.  The substance CBD is one of the most potent healers in the herbal kingdom available for self-healing.

Poor health is often the result of imbalanced chemistry. CBD naturally restores the functions of the nervous and immune systems back to a healthy level. I first learned of CBD by sponsoring a lecture on sports nutrition with Carl Germano in April of 2014. Mr. Germano is a registered dietician and is a highly respected expert in the field of health and nutrition. As I spent the day with him, he shared his thoughts on the health benefits of “cannabinoid.” He said they impressed him more than almost any other natural product he had ever researched in his life.

At the time, I knew nothing of this funny sounding substance. I learned soon that Cannabinoid is derived from the hemp plant and is one constituent of the family of molecules that hemp contains.

Further Research

My passion in the nutrition field for the past 38 years has encouraged me to become fully immersed in the study of specific topics on natural health as I have done on CBD. Last January, I traveled to Colorado to investigate CBD products and also found many experts that taught the value of this amazing plant in the past year. I have first hand observed results that are nothing short of miraculous in myself and others. My personal study on CBD allows me to state the following:

Nothing I have ever investigated on natural medicine will probably ever outperform the almost miraculous healing properties that I have witnessed with Cannabinoids. CBD may truly be a natural elixir from the heavens. Share on X

The leading website I respect for education on CBD, ProjectCBD.org states the following:

Cannabidiol — CBD

CBD is a hemp compound that has significant medical benefits, but does not make people feel “stoned”. CBD has demonstrated neuroprotective and neurogenic effects, and its properties are currently being investigated at several academic research centers in the United States and elsewhere in preventing some of our most feared diseases.

Medical Benefits of CBD

Hemp has been used for thousands of years for materials, textiles and food products. But in the past few decades, almost all cannabinoids have been farmed out of our foods, so we aren’t ingesting them naturally anymore. Yet its role in controlling/treating epilepsy, chronic pain, depression, heart health, anxiety and more is easily verifiable with a quick internet search. Hemp products are available in gummy bears, creams, vape pens, liquids and more, depending on a person’s preferred method of ingestion.

Is CBD Oil Legal in TN?

On May 5, 2015, Governor Bill Haslam gave final approval for medicinal use of hemp oil in Tennessee. I am however unclear how this will filter down to the practical level of the consumer but it is obviously positive news for the future of CBD.

Where Can I Get CBD Oil?

One of the brands that meet our high standards is Straight Hemp.

Straight Hemp succeeds in every criterion we demand when it comes to CBD products. Straight Hemp grows their own plants organically in Colorado and runs the whole operation from seed to shelf. We don’t see that often in this industry.

We currently prefer full spectrum CBD products at Nutrition World. And Straight Hemp offers that. Their products contain the spectrum of wellness intended by nature. For example, their product provides much more than just CBD.

They offer full spectrum (<0.03%THC) products containing a good terpene and trace cannabinoid profile. This combination synergizes to produce an ‘entourage effect’ powerful enough to reach maximum benefits for body and mind. They use state-of-the-art, terpene-preserving, subcritical CO2 extraction methods. And I believe this produces the highest quality hemp extract. Their quality assurance and standard dosing guarantee us quality and consistency. They provide us with more third-party data confirming purity than any other product in our hemp cabinet.

How Much CBD Oil Should I Take?

Great question! Currently, there is not enough data to offer a maximum daily consumption for CBD.

We can say CBD has not proven problematic at even very high doses like 1,500 mg per day. However, this does not mean high dosing stands unproblematic. It means that we have more to learn about what role CBD products play in our system.

For this reason, at Nutrition World we cannot recommend nor prescribe a specific amount of CBD to consume for any condition. We do recommend starting with a “low and slow” approach. Different individuals will experience CBD’s general effects differently. That makes it physiologically, as well as financially, beneficial to begin with around 5-15mg of CBD twice per day. From there, slowly increase that amount as directed by a practitioner. Or you can use your best judgement as your own health advocate.

Conclusion

I want everyone to know that I will be on the forefront every step of the way on the CBD issue. I know that ordering CBD off the internet at this time is a gamble due to inconsistent quality and many brands containing pesticides and chemicals so I do not recommend this. Nutrition World will always remain the gatekeeper and source of honest products for holistic health so stay connected for updates as they become available.

I find it disturbing that since the 1930ʼs hemp compounds have been aggressively attacked and maligned. To consider how many health problems CBD and hemp could have addressed if wisdom and objectivity ruled, is enough to make the angels weep.
